Journal Display Settings

Customize how your trading journal looks and behaves

The Journal Display settings let you configure how trades are presented in the Trading Journal. These settings affect the default view when you open the journal page.

Display Modes

  • Detailed Mode -- Shows all available columns including notes, tags, images, session, timeframe, and more. Best for thorough trade review.
  • Simple Mode -- Shows only essential columns: symbol, direction, entry/exit, P&L, and result. Best for quick scanning of trade history.

Aggregate Partial Closes

When a trade is closed in several parts (partial exits, scaling out, or pyramiding into a position), the Aggregate Partial Closes toggle controls how those legs appear. When it is on, all the legs of one position are collapsed into a single aggregated row with combined totals. When it is off, each entry and exit is shown as its own separate row.

Column Visibility and Other Settings

Column visibility is not configured in this section: changes you make in the journal's own Show/Hide columns menu are saved automatically, and reusable column sets (presets) are managed in the separate Trading Table settings section. Journal Display instead covers settings such as the Manual Trading toggle, showing Net P/L under the Result, showing canceled orders, the direction format (Buy/Sell vs. Long/Short), averages shown in R or $, the Entry/Exit row order, and the futures unit (Ticks vs. Points).

  • Always visible: Date, Symbol, Direction, Entry, Exit, SL/TP, Result, Net P&L (entry/exit price and time live inside the Entry and Exit cells)
  • Optional: Status, Account, Session, News, Strategy, Grade, Initial RR, Quantity, Timeframe, Duration, Risk, R, Pips, P&L, Fees, Swap, Balance, Drawdown, cumulative columns, Tags, Notes, Gallery, plus any custom columns

Motivational Messages

The journal shows a motivational message in the toolbar row, next to the Add Trade button and the sync status. It is a fixed element of the journal -- there is no setting to turn it on or off.

Start with Simple Mode if you are new to trading journals. Once you are comfortable logging trades consistently, switch to Detailed Mode to capture more data that powers Blueprint analysis and advanced analytics.
Column changes made directly in the journal are saved automatically -- the Default view remembers your toggles across reloads. When a saved Trading Table preset is active, toggles mark it as unsaved: click Save to store them on the preset, or they revert to the preset's stored columns on reload.
