News Calendar Overview
Track upcoming economic events that affect the markets
The News Calendar page in TradeLog helps you stay informed about upcoming economic events that can cause significant market volatility. Knowing when high-impact news is scheduled allows you to plan your trading sessions, avoid unexpected volatility, or position yourself to trade around news releases.
Accessing the News Calendar
Navigate to the News page from the sidebar menu. The calendar displays economic events for the current week by default, with options to switch between today's events, this week, or next week.
Key Features
- Events grouped by day with clear date headers
- Filter by currency (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF)
- Filter by impact level (High, Medium)
- Country flags for quick visual identification
- Forecast, previous, and actual values for each event
- Countdown timer showing time until the next high-impact event
- Market holidays section showing exchange closures and early closes
Filtering Events
- 1Click the currency filter dropdown to select which currencies to show (default: USD)
- 2Click the impact filter to choose between High and Medium impact events
- 3Use the day filter tabs to switch between Today, This Week, and Next Week
- 4Your filter selections are saved automatically and persist between visits
If you trade Forex pairs like EUR/USD, enable both EUR and USD currency filters to see events that could affect either side of the pair.
For stocks accounts, a special banner appears reminding you that the economic calendar is most relevant for Forex, Futures, and CFD trading, though major events like Fed rate decisions can still impact stock markets.
