Trade Management Analysis

Analyze your entry behavior, risk management, exit behavior, exit outcome, and trade discipline patterns

The Trade Management section on the Analytics page is one of the most unique features in TradeLog. It analyzes the auto-tags assigned to your trades and breaks them down into five behavioral categories, revealing how you actually manage trades compared to how you plan them.

Five Analysis Categories

Trade Management analysis showing all five categories with metrics
  • Entry Behavior -- Analyzes Market-Order and Pending-Order tags. Shows how you tend to enter your trades.
  • Risk Management -- Analyzes Risk-Free, SL-Tightened, SL-Extended, and SL-in-Profits tags. Shows how often you move your stop loss to protect capital and lock in profits.
  • Exit Behavior -- Analyzes Cut-Loss and Early-Exit tags. Reveals whether you tend to cut losses early or take profits before the target.
  • Exit Outcome -- Analyzes TP-Hit, SL-Hit, and Runner tags. (The Good/Bad quality evaluation of manual exits lives in the separate Decision Quality section of Analytics.)
  • Trade Discipline -- Analyzes Set-and-Forget, Risk-Exceeded, and No-SL tags. Shows whether you stuck to your plan and respected your risk rules.

Reading the Data

Each tag card shows the number of times it occurred, the win rate (with the win/loss split), and the Total R and average R for trades with that tag. (The Risk-Exceeded card shows a risk-overshoot multiplier instead of R, and on stocks accounts the R cell is hidden.) This lets you answer questions like: When I cut losses manually, am I usually making a good decision or a bad one?

Tag Combinations

The Analytics page also shows tag combination analysis, revealing how different management behaviors interact:

  • A manual combination builder -- select two or more tags to see their combined stats.
  • Best Performing Combinations, discovered automatically.
  • Worst Performing Combinations.
  • Combination insights specific to your trading (for example, Risk-Free with Runner).
The Decision Quality section (Exit Timing) is especially valuable alongside this one. If your "Cut-Loss: Bad" rate there is high, you may be exiting trades too early. If your "Early-Exit: Bad" rate is high, you might benefit from letting winners run to their target.
Trade Management analysis relies on auto-tags. Most auto-tags need stop loss and take profit data -- the more complete your trade entries, the richer this analysis becomes (a few, like Market-Order/Pending-Order and No-SL, are generated regardless).
