How Fast Is Auto-Sync?
How quickly synced trades, positions, and risk changes appear in your journal, and what to do if a sync takes longer than usual.
Once you've connected a platform, TradeLog's auto-sync runs continuously in the background. New trades, position updates, and risk-setting changes flow into your journal automatically -- you don't need to refresh anything yourself.
How quickly will my trades appear?
How fast depends on the connection type. EA/cBot platforms (MetaTrader 4/5, cTrader cBot, NinjaTrader) push trades in near real-time -- a new trade, a closed position, or a risk-setting change usually shows up within about 30 seconds. API-pull connections (cTrader API, Tradovate) sync automatically once a day, and you can trigger an on-demand sync at any time with the Sync button. The DXtrade connection and the crypto exchanges Binance, Bybit, and OKX work the same way and are in beta; the TradeLocker connection is coming soon.
Why isn't it always instant?
Auto-sync relies on several things working together -- your trading platform, your connection, and TradeLog's servers -- and each step takes a small amount of time. This is standard for near-real-time syncing across the industry, and it's why we describe sync as "near real-time" rather than "instant."
When a sync takes longer than usual
A longer delay is almost always down to one of these:
- Your trading platform, terminal, or EA/cBot is closed or offline -- data syncs as soon as it reconnects.
- Your internet connection dropped or is unstable.
- Unusually high market volatility or heavy trading activity.
If trades still haven't appeared after a few minutes, make sure your trading platform is running and connected, then use the Sync button in your journal to trigger a manual refresh.
