Multiple Accounts and Multiple Connections
Trading with two prop firms, or need a second account? Here is exactly how many connections each platform allows, what one connection already covers, and what to do when you need another connection.
If you trade with more than one broker, or with more than one prop firm, this article answers the question you are actually asking: how many separate logins can I add, and will TradeLog show all of my accounts? The limit is different on every platform — and on one platform it is exactly one.
A Connection Is a Login, Not an Account
A connection is one set of credentials. TradeLog signs in once with those credentials and imports every trading account they can see — not just one of them. If your prop firm issued you five accounts under a single login, one connection brings in all five, each as its own account in TradeLog, with its own balance, its own risk settings and its own statistics. Two exceptions, and they are the ones people trip on: a crypto exchange connection and an Interactive Brokers Flex Query each cover exactly ONE account.
How Many Connections Each Platform Allows
- cTrader / API — ONE connection, and one only. There is no way to add a second cTrader login on this card.
- Tradovate — one connection per Tradovate login. Two prop firms that gave you two different Tradovate logins are two connections, and you can name each one so you can tell them apart. Adding the SAME login again on the same host does not clone it; it refreshes the one you have.
- DXtrade — one connection per broker server. Two prop firms on different DXtrade servers both fit; two prop firms on the same server do not.
- TradeLocker — one connection per server and environment. Different servers, or the same server once in Demo and once in Live, all fit.
- Binance, Bybit and OKX — one connection per exchange on each account, so one account can carry up to three. Each connection covers exactly that one account. Nothing caps the connections themselves; what limits you is how many accounts your plan allows.
- MetaTrader 4/5, NinjaTrader and cTrader (cBot) — these use no connection at all. They sync through a TradeLog API key, and one key covers every account you attach the robot to. TradeLog matches each trade to an account by the broker login it came from, so a second login gets its own account instead of landing in the first. What limits you here is your plan's account count.
- Interactive Brokers and Rithmic — not connectable yet. Both still show Coming Soon on the Connections page. When they open, IBKR will take one connection per Flex Query and each one will cover a single account; Rithmic will take one connection per Rithmic system.
What Is Not Possible Today
Tradovate, DXtrade, TradeLocker, Rithmic, Interactive Brokers and the crypto exchanges behave differently: instead of overwriting, they either open a second connection or refuse the duplicate and tell you that you are already connected to that login, that server, that system, that Flex Query or that exchange. Nothing is lost in those cases.
If You Need More Than Your Platform Allows
- 1Check first whether the accounts you are missing already arrived under the connection you have. One login covers every account it can see.
- 2If your platform allows more than one, add the second from the Connections page exactly the way you added the first. Tradovate, DXtrade, TradeLocker and the crypto exchanges all accept another connection.
- 3On Tradovate, give each connection a name — the prop firm it belongs to — as soon as you add the second one. Two unnamed logins look identical in a list.
- 4If you are blocked on cTrader, the cTrader (cBot) card is a separate path with no such limit: run the cBot on the second firm's platform and it syncs through an API key instead of the OAuth connection. If that is not an option, import that account by CSV or add its trades by hand.
- 5Tell support which platform and which prop firm blocked you. We cannot promise a date for a higher limit, but a limit nobody reports is a limit nobody raises.
Your Plan Caps Accounts Separately
Connections and accounts are two different limits and both apply at the same time. Basic tracks one trading account and allows one API key; Premium tracks as many of each as you want. Tradovate additionally caps broker logins per plan — one on Basic, 99 on Premium — and if you ever reach 99, write to us and we raise it. No other platform has a per-plan connection cap today; theirs is the rule in the list above. On the manual plans you still see every platform on the Connections page, but clicking one offers an upgrade instead of connecting: Manual+ tracks ten accounts with no auto-sync at all.
