Per-Account Risk Settings

Configure risk_per_trade, max daily loss, and other risk parameters for each account

Every trading account in TradeLog can have its own risk settings, or share settings via a Risk Management Profile. These settings are the foundation for all risk calculations, R-multiples, risk badges, and position sizing throughout the application.

Core Risk Settings

  • Risk Per Trade (%) -- The percentage of your balance you risk on each trade. This is the single most important setting. Example: 1% means you risk 1% of your balance per trade.
  • Fixed Amount ($) -- Alternatively, risk a flat currency amount per trade. Fill in either the percentage or the fixed amount -- the other field locks automatically.
  • Risk Management Type -- Fixed or Dynamic (compounding); see the Risk Calculation Modes article for details.
  • Strict Risk Management (auto-trim) -- A per-account toggle that lets connected robots (MetaTrader EA, cTrader cBot, NinjaTrader) automatically trim a position that risks more than planned. Shown as Protected/Unprotected in the Journal.

Loss and Trade Limits

  • Max Daily Losses -- The maximum loss AMOUNT per day, tracked in your account currency, % of balance, or R-units depending on the Track Limits In mode. This is never a count of losing trades.
  • Max Weekly Losses -- The maximum loss amount per week, in the same unit.
  • Max Daily Trades -- A separate limit on the NUMBER of trades you can take per day.
  • Max Weekly Trades -- The maximum number of trades per week.
  • Track Limits In -- Whether the loss and win limits are measured in currency ($), % of balance, or R-units (R).

Win Targets

  • Daily Win Target -- An optional profit target for the day. The Mini Dashboard shows a celebration when reached.
  • Weekly Win Target -- An optional profit target for the week.

Breakeven Tolerance

The Breakeven Tolerance setting defines how close your stop loss needs to be to your entry price for the system to consider the trade "breakeven" (risk-free). This can be set as an R-value or a currency amount.

  1. 1Go to Accounts in the sidebar.
  2. 2Click the edit button (pencil icon) on any account.
  3. 3Navigate to the Risk Settings step in the wizard.
  4. 4Fill in your risk percentage, mode, and any limits.
  5. 5Click Save to apply.
If you trade multiple accounts with the same risk rules, create a Risk Management Profile on the Risk Management page and assign it to all those accounts. Changes to the profile automatically propagate to every linked account.
Closed trades keep the risk basis that was in effect when they were taken -- the planned 1R is frozen at entry. Changing risk settings affects new trades and the live Next-Trade-Risk preview, not the R-multiples of your historical trades.
