The Status Boxes: Risk, Recovery, Limits & News

Everything the Next Trade Risk, Recovery Status, and Limits Tracker boxes show — plus the news ticker.

The Mini Dashboard's status boxes tell you what matters before and during a trade: how much you're risking next, how far you are from your equity peak, and whether you're near your self-set limits. This article walks through each one.

Next Trade Risk

This box tells you exactly how much money you're set to risk on your next trade, based on the risk rules of the account you've selected. It only appears when you have a single account selected.

  • per trade — the headline money figure: how much you'll risk on the next trade, in your account currency, rounded to whole units. If risk isn't available it shows a dash (—).
  • Risk-type badge — Fixed, Dynamic, Fixed + DD, Dynamic + DD or Fixed Amount, telling you how the amount is calculated. Fixed = risk from your starting balance; Dynamic = risk that grows and shrinks with your current balance (compounding); + DD = the drawdown-protection overlay that reduces risk after losses, on either one; Fixed Amount = the same flat figure on every trade, whatever the balance. Click it to switch method; a Fixed Amount is changed in your risk settings.
  • The (−N%) suffix — when a drawdown cut is active, the badge shows how much the risk is reduced, e.g. "Fixed + DD (−50%)". With no cut active it reads "Fixed + DD" or "Dynamic + DD" — on an account linked to a risk profile, just "Fixed" or "Dynamic" until the drawdown reaches the protection threshold; a Fixed Amount never shows it.
  • Risk basis chip — "1% of Initial" (starting balance) or "1% of Current" (live balance), showing the percentage you set and which balance it applies to. A Fixed Amount applies to no balance, so it has no chip.
  • Reset to profile — a circular-arrow icon on profile-linked accounts that snaps the risk type back to your saved Risk Management profile; it opens a confirm showing how your per-trade amount changes.

If the account has no risk profile yet, the box shows "Risk profile not configured" with a "Set Up Risk" button that opens the Risk Management dialog.

Synced (robot-connected) accounts also show a Protected / Unprotected shield. "Protected" (green) means auto-trim is on and a connected robot reduces positions that risk more than your per-trade target. "Unprotected" (amber or grey) means auto-trim is off, or is on but no robot has synced recently, or the robot reports it isn't trimming. Click the shield to toggle it; a separate (i) icon beside it explains the exact reason.
This box shows risk in money and as a percentage of balance — it does NOT express the next trade's risk as an R multiple. R is a separate results metric, explained on the Total R card.

Recovery Status

This box tells you, at a glance, whether your account is currently in a drawdown (below its all-time equity peak) and how far you need to climb back. When you're at or near your peak it flips to a calm green "No recovery needed" state.

  • Status icon — red downward-trend on a red circle when you're in a drawdown; emerald when you're healthy.
  • Drawdown subline — the current drawdown as a negative percent (red), a small progress bar, and a green 0.00% target on the right, representing the climb back to your peak. When healthy it reads "No recovery needed".
  • DRAWDOWN — how far your account is below its all-time equity high, as a percentage. Hover for the explanation.
  • R TO RECOVER / TO RECOVER — how much you still need to gain to reach your peak, shown as an R multiple (R-mode) or a cash amount (cash mode). Shows an "AT PEAK" badge when fully recovered, or a dash when there's nothing to recover.
  • Wins / Needed — an estimate of roughly how many winning trades ("~N") it would take to recover, based on your average win and current risk mode. The label crossfades between "Wins" and "Needed"; hidden on small screens.
The drawdown figure here includes the floating profit/loss of any open trades, so it reflects your real current risk. If an open position is fed by a genuine live synced connection, the numbers tick in real time and the labels briefly flash "● LIVE". The recovery math also adapts to your risk mode (Fixed, Dynamic, or Drawdown), surfaced as a word inside the tooltips.

Limits Tracker

The Limits Tracker watches your self-set daily and weekly limits — loss caps, profit targets, and (if configured) maximum trade counts — against your realized results. All limits come from your Risk Management settings for the selected account; nothing shows here until you've set at least a daily limit.

The header card names the current state and shows a status badge:

  • Empty state — a blue gear, "Limits Tracker", "No daily limits configured", and a "Set Limits" button that links to Risk Management. An X button lets you "Hide for 7 days".
  • Currency-mismatch state — if your limits are in a different currency than the account, it honestly withholds them: an amber shield and "Limits unavailable — currency mismatch". It never shows a fake "no cap".
  • Neutral state — when limits are set but you're flat at zero, it shows "Daily Limits" and "Weekly Limits", each pairing the loss limit (red) with the win target (green).
  • Loss Tracker — when you're in the red, a red "Loss Tracker" with "Limit:" and your daily loss limit, plus TODAY and This Week realized P/L columns.
  • Win Tracker — when you're in profit, a green "Win Tracker" with "Target:" and your daily win target, plus the same TODAY / This Week columns.

A small pulsing status badge names which limit fired and how severe: it reads a source ("Daily", "Weekly", or "Both") followed by a severity — CRITICAL, VIOLATED, STOP, PROTECT, OVERTRADING, or TARGET.

The limit progress bars

Below the header, horizontal progress bars show where your realized P/L sits between your loss limit (red, left) and win target (green, right), with a zero tick in the middle. There are up to three sub-limits per bar:

  • Daily bar — TODAY's realized P/L, from your daily loss limit (−value, red left) to your daily win target (+value, green right).
  • Weekly bar — THIS WEEK's realized P/L against your weekly loss limit and weekly win target; only appears if weekly limits are configured.
  • Max Trades counter — if you set a maximum number of trades, each bar row shows a "trades taken / max" chip (e.g. "3/5") that turns amber at one remaining and solid red when you hit the cap. This is the count that drives the OVERTRADING badge.

Values display as cash ($ / your currency), a percent-of-balance (resolved to cash), or R-multiples, depending on how you set the limit; a null limit shows ∞. A small italic caption, "as of last recorded trade", reminds you these bars track realized P/L only — open floating trades are excluded by design.

The progress bars are desktop-only (wide screens). Which bars appear is set by the Limit Bars control on the Dashboard tab, which cycles Daily → Weekly → Both → None. Choosing None hides the bars and the caption entirely.

For a prop-firm account (evaluation or funded), a compact progress card also appears in this same area — showing your distance to the profit target, your drawdown room, payout eligibility, and (on evaluations) any consistency rule or free-trial countdown. It shows only when a single account linked to a prop-firm profile is selected, and you can hide it with the X on the card or the "Prop Firm bar" toggle. The full breakdown lives in the Prop Firms help section.

The news ticker

Inside the context strip is a live economic-news ticker. It covers HIGH-impact US dollar events. The News column on each trade row is narrowed per instrument instead: a forex trade sees its own two currencies, while futures, stocks, crypto and CFD rows also see USD alone. The full eight-currency feed (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF) is what the News page browses.

  • News in [countdown] -- a live, second-by-second countdown to the next high-impact event; flashes a red "NOW" at release time. This chip is always shown when an event exists and links to the News page.
  • TODAY chip — a blue star, the word TODAY, and a high-impact event still to come today (time + title), rotating every 4 seconds if several remain. Reads "No High-Impact News" when none are left.
  • TOMORROW chip — the same for the next calendar day's high-impact events.
  • Dismiss (X) — a small X next to the current TODAY/TOMORROW alert hides that one event for the day; it resets the next day.
The TODAY/TOMORROW clusters only appear on large screens and can be turned off with the "News in mini Dashboard" toggle in the Journal tab. That toggle does NOT hide the "News in" countdown chip. Sound cues play 15 minutes and 1 minute before an event, if news notifications are enabled and journal sounds aren't muted.
