Recording Deposits and Withdrawals

How to track money flowing in and out of your trading accounts

The Transactions page lets you record all money movements in your trading accounts. Tracking deposits and withdrawals is essential for accurate balance calculations, equity curve tracking, and understanding your true trading performance independent of capital injections or removals.

Types of Transactions

  • Deposit -- Money added to your trading account (funding, additional capital)
  • Withdrawal -- Money removed from your trading account (profit taking, personal use)
  • Payout -- Profit share from a prop firm funded account (special type, see separate article)

Adding a New Transaction

  1. 1Click the Add Transaction button in the top-right area of the page
  2. 2Choose the transaction type first (Deposit or Withdrawal) -- changing the type resets the account selection
  3. 3For a withdrawal, set the status: Pending or Approved
  4. 4Select the trading account this transaction belongs to
  5. 5Enter the amount in the account's currency
  6. 6Select the date and time of the transaction
  7. 7Optionally add notes, then click Add Transaction to record it

Summary Cards

At the top of the page, four summary cards show your total deposits, total withdrawals, total payouts, and net flow (deposits minus withdrawals). These totals update automatically when you filter by account.

How Transactions Affect Your Account

Deposits increase your account balance without being counted as trading profit. Withdrawals decrease your balance without being counted as trading losses. Withdrawals can be saved as Pending or Approved -- only Approved withdrawals reduce your balance and totals (a Pending withdrawal means the money is still in the account); deposits are approved automatically. This separation ensures that your P&L metrics, equity curve, and win rate calculations reflect actual trading performance, not capital movements.

Record transactions on the same date they actually occurred to keep your equity curve accurate. The P&L Calendar also shows transaction badges (D for deposit, W for withdrawal, P for payout) on the corresponding dates.
The available transaction types depend on your account status. For example, the Payout type is only available when you have a Funded account; recording a payout also requires a linked prop firm profile.
