Back to Import & Auto-Sync

Tradovate Auto-Sync Setup

Connect Tradovate for automatic trade synchronization via API

TradeLog connects directly to your Tradovate account and imports your trades automatically. Once connected, your futures trades appear in your journal without any manual entry — including trades made on prop firm accounts that run on Tradovate.

How Tradovate Sync Works

Unlike the MetaTrader robots, Tradovate sync needs no file installation. You authorize TradeLog from the Connections page, choose which of your Tradovate accounts to track, and TradeLog pulls your fills through the official Tradovate API and groups them into trades.

Setup Steps

  1. 1In TradeLog, open Connections from the sidebar and pick Tradovate (under API Auto-Sync).
  2. 2Click Add Connection and choose your environment: Demo or Live.
  3. 3Live accounts: you are sent to Tradovate's own login page to authorize TradeLog. Demo accounts: enter your Tradovate username and password directly.
  4. 4Pick which Tradovate accounts you want to track. TradeLog recognizes common prop firm accounts from the account name and suggests the right account size.
  5. 5Confirm — TradeLog creates (or links) a trading account for each selection.
  6. 6Click Sync to import your trades. New trades keep flowing in automatically.

What Gets Synced

  • Closed trades built from your fills: entry/exit prices, times, quantity, and direction.
  • Profit/loss and fees.
  • Positions that are still open are detected and shown as running trades.
  • Partial fills and scaling in/out are grouped into the right trades automatically.

Automatic Daily Sync

Connections with auto-sync enabled are synced automatically every weekday at 22:55 UTC, shortly before the futures trading day rolls over. You can also press Sync on the connection at any time (with a short cooldown between manual syncs) and choose how far back to go: new trades only, last 7 days, last 30 days, All History, or a custom date range.

Two Sources: Today's Session and Your Past History

Tradovate serves the current session and past sessions from two different places, and TradeLog uses both. The incremental sync reads the live API, which only holds the CURRENT trading day's fills — that is why auto-sync runs before the day rolls over. Anything older comes from Tradovate's reporting service instead, which is what 'All History' and a custom date range use. TradeLog runs that history import for you automatically the first time you link an account.

The two sources do not carry the same detail. History imported from the reporting service is the same data as a manual CSV export from Tradovate — it includes fees and stop-loss / take-profit levels. Trades captured live during the session arrive without SL/TP, because the live API does not report them; you can add those by editing the trade, which unlocks its full risk statistics. The '+ Add Trade' manual-entry buttons also stay visible on Tradovate accounts as a safety valve for logging a missed trade yourself.
A history import tells you when it fails. If no trades could be linked, or an account errors, the import reports the failure instead of finishing quietly — so a run that ends without importing anything is never presented as a success. If that happens, check that the connection is still authorized (Renew if it shows expired) and try the range again.
If your account belongs to a prop firm that runs on Tradovate, attach a prop firm profile to the linked TradeLog account — your synced trades are then tracked against the firm's drawdown and payout rules.
Your Tradovate connection uses a token that expires periodically. If the connection shows as expired, click Renew and log in again — your linked accounts and imported history stay in place.
