Pre-Trade Checklists
Build per-strategy checklists and run them from the journal for consistent execution
Pre-trade checklists are lists of criteria you attach to a strategy. From the journal you open the strategy's checklist in a panel, review and tick off each item, and attach the completed checklist to a trade. This enforces discipline and ensures you are following your trading plan consistently.
Creating a Checklist
- 1Go to the Strategies page and open any strategy (or create a new one).
- 2Find the Checklist section within the strategy editor.
- 3Click "Add Item" to add a new checklist criterion.
- 4Type the criterion (e.g., "H1 structure is bullish" or "No high-impact news in next 30 min").
- 5Add as many items as needed. Reorder items with the Move up / Move down controls.
- 6Save the strategy.
Using the Checklist
Trades are added inline in the journal, so the checklist is not part of a pop-up form. Instead, open the Checklist panel from the journal and select the strategy you are trading. The panel can float over the table or be docked into a side panel alongside the Decision Tree and Risk Calculator. Tick off each item as you confirm it, then attach the completed checklist to the trade by its number.
- Open the Checklist panel from the journal, and choose to keep it floating or docked.
- Items are grouped (for example, Pre-Session and Entry) and tracked with a completion percentage.
- When the setup is ready, attach the completed checklist to a trade by entering its trade number.
- The setup grade is computed from the items you check -- using your Setup Grading rules, or the default percentage grading if none are defined.
- Analytics show whether trades taken with full checklist completion outperform partial ones.
Checklist Best Practices
Keep checklists short and actionable. Each item should be something you can objectively verify (yes/no), not a vague guideline. Good checklist items describe specific market conditions, chart patterns, or risk checks.
