Setup Grading
Automatically grade trade setups (default A+, A, B+, B, C -- fully customizable) using rule sets built from your checklist items
The Setup Grading system automatically assigns quality grades to your trades based on criteria you define. Grades default to A+, A, B+, B, C and are fully customizable -- you can add, rename, and delete grades (custom names like "Elite" work too) and pick per-grade colors. This transforms subjective setup evaluation into a consistent, objective process.
How It Works
Grading is configured as Rule Sets per grade. A rule set is a group of criteria connected by AND and OR logic:
- AND logic -- All criteria in a rule set must be true for it to match.
- OR logic -- Multiple rule sets can lead to the same grade. If any rule set matches, the grade is assigned.
- Criteria are checklist items from your strategy that describe specific market conditions.
- No match, no grade -- If custom rules exist and no rule set matches, the trade gets NO grade. Strategies without custom rules use the built-in percentage grading instead (100% = A+, 90%+ = A, 80%+ = B+, 60%+ = B, otherwise C).
Example Decision Tree
Here is an example of how a decision tree might be structured for an ICT-style strategy:
- A+ Grade: (Market Structure Shift AND Liquidity Sweep AND SMT Divergence) OR (Market Structure Shift AND Inversion FVG AND Displacement)
- A Grade: Market Structure Shift AND any 2 of [Liquidity Sweep, SMT, Inversion FVG, FVG]
- B Grade: Market Structure Shift AND any 1 additional criterion
- C Grade: Market Structure Shift only. (A setup that matches no rule set at all gets no grade.)
Setting Up a Decision Tree
- 1Open a strategy on the Strategies page.
- 2First create checklist items for all your criteria (these become the building blocks).
- 3Open the Setup Grading tab and click "Configure Setup Grading."
- 4For each grade (default A+, A, B+, B, C -- add, rename, or recolor grades as you like), build one or more Rule Sets.
- 5Each rule set is a combination of checklist items joined by AND.
- 6Multiple rule sets for the same grade are joined by OR.
- 7A setup that matches no rule set gets no grade (shown as Not Defined).
- 8Save the strategy.
Start simple with rule sets for just one or two grades (for example A only). You can add more granularity (A+ and B+) as you refine your understanding of what makes a high-quality setup in your strategy.
Setup grading only works when you use the checklist during trade entry. If you skip the checklist, the system cannot determine which criteria were met and no grade is assigned.
