How to Auto-Sync Your MT4/MT5 Trades to a Journal (Free EA)

One of the biggest reasons traders abandon their journal is the tedious manual data entry. You close a trade, then switch to your spreadsheet or web app to type in all the details. After a few days, you stop bothering.

What the EA Does (3-in-1)

1. Trade Sync

Every time you open, modify, or close a trade on MT4/MT5, the EA sends it to your TradeLog journal instantly. Entry price, exit price, lot size, SL, TP, symbol, timestamps - everything is captured automatically. Running positions are shown as "Running" status and update when closed.

2. Position Size Calculator

The EA connects to your risk settings in TradeLog. When you set your risk per trade to 1% in TradeLog, the EA calculates the exact lot size based on your stop loss distance and account balance. It draws visual SL/TP lines on your chart showing the R:R ratio.

It supports both Fixed Risk (based on starting balance) and Dynamic Risk (based on current balance), matching whatever you've configured in TradeLog.

Setup Guide (5 Minutes)

Step 1: Get Your API Key

Log in to TradeLog and go to Settings. Under the API Keys tab, click "Generate New Key." Copy the key - you'll need it for the EA.

Step 2: Download the EA

From the Settings page, download the EA file:

• MT4: Download TradeLog_MT4_EA.ex4
• MT5: Download TradeLog_MT5_EA.ex5

Step 3: Install in MetaTrader

1. Open MetaTrader
2. Go to File > Open Data Folder
3. Navigate to MQL4/Experts (MT4) or MQL5/Experts (MT5)
4. Copy the EA file into this folder
5. Restart MetaTrader or right-click Navigator > Refresh

Step 4: Attach to a Chart

1. Open any chart (the EA works across all symbols)
2. Drag the EA from Navigator onto the chart
3. In the settings window, paste your API Key
4. Make sure Allow Web Requests is enabled in Tools > Options > Expert Advisors
5. Add tradelog.cot-reports.com to the allowed URLs list
6. Click OK

Step 5: Verify Connection

The EA will show a status indicator on your chart. A green dot means connected and syncing. Open a test trade and check your TradeLog journal - it should appear within seconds.
